Mr. Rifkin addressed the Italian Parliament on the occasion of the 50^th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome on the topic of the next 50 years of European integration.  Mr. Rifkin called for a third industrial revolution and the shift to a post-carbon era based upon renewable energies.  He urged European leaders to begin to make a fundamental shift in foreign policy from the conventional geopolitics to biosphere politics, in order to address climate change and the future sustainability of the planet.  Mr. Rifkin’s address was attended by the members of the Camera dei Deputati.
