"Citizens of the Earth": Paris International Conference on the Environment

Chaired 5th Roundtable on "Changing Mentalities and Patterns of Production and Consumption"

Mr. Rifkin was invited by President Jacques Chirac of France, to chair the 5^th Roundtable on the human dimension of the ecological crisis entitled “Changing Mentalities and Patterns of Production and Consumption” at the Paris International Conference on the Environment.  The conference was organized by the United Nations Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization to coincide with the release of the 2007 UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report on the science of climate change.  The conference brought together 150 of the world’s political leaders, business leaders, scientific and economic experts and NGOs, to discuss the UN climate report and suggest recommendations and solutions for addressing global warming.
